Late Night Grub

About this thing

This is my new tumblelog.  Look here for more info about that.  I’m hoping it will be my gateway back into the world of serious blogging.  The idea is that I don’t have to sit down and craft a long, well-written post, but I can drop snippets and links here in there.  I think it will be particularly useful for those links I find as I browse around the Web that I might ordinarily send via IM to 4 or 5 different people.  Those of you who count on me for IM entertainment, start watching this space :)

I was looking at the default Tumblr themes and they were okay, but I’m a designer at heart, so I had to put my own spin on it, of course.  The design (which needs some fine-tuning, yet) comes from my effort to come up with a title for the tumblelog without resorting to “Tumblish.”  In thinking about the nature of tumblelogs, the word “scattered” entered my brain, which led me to the method of ordering Waffle House hashbrowns.  See the picture posted below for more information.

As soon as I made that connection, I knew I had something, and I came up with the idea of using my preferred hashbrown order as the tagline of the site—it would be way too long for the title.  (Note the exclusion of chunked.  Processed ham cubes do nothing for me.)  The tough part was then coming up with a decent title.  After going back and forth with a lot of things, I finally settled on “Late Night Grub.”  I think the content of a tumblelog and the conversations that are often had with friends on a late night Waffle House run are pretty analogous.

So there you go.  Sorry for the long post, but I wanted a proper introduction.  Hopefully, this will be the longest post on this tumblelog.  Hope to see you back here for some good times, scattered, smothered, covered, diced, peppered, capped, and topped for your enjoyment.
